NOVELL ANNOUNCES "NOVELL DOES UNIX" SALES PROMOTION AND SEMINAR SERIES
SAN JOSE, California - February 24, 1992 - Novell, Inc., developer of
NetWare systems software products, announced today a six-month "Novell
does UNIX" sales promotion and seminar series designed to grow the UNIX
networking market through the strength of its North American resellers.
As network computing expands into the enterprise, there is a great need
for users in UNIX environments to have access to integrated network
services. The promotion provides tools and opportunities for resellers in
the United States and Canada to reach these users who need UNIX networking
solutions. Many distributors and national reseller organizations are
sponsoring "Novell Does UNIX" seminars for resellers and end users who
need this information.
"We believe in the direction Novell is taking in the UNIX market," said
Tim Godwin, president of Tech Data Corporation. "Their UNIX products are
so strong and this promotion is such a great opportunity that we're
creating a whole new division to support it."
The program focuses on two of Novell's networking solutions for
UNIX-oriented customers, NetWare NFS and LAN WorkPlace for DOS. NetWare
NFS is a high-performance NFS server that enables customers to share
information by integrating their UNIX and NetWare resources. LAN
WorkPlace for DOS is market-leading TCP/IP connectivity software that
provides personal computer users with direct, concurrent access to NetWare
and UNIX resources.
"The 'Novell Does UNIX' promotion provides tools to help resellers expand
their customer base to include UNIX users and increase their success in
the fastest-growing segment of the network computing market," said Kim
Peyser, Novell's vice president of North American sales. "It's also a
great opportunity for them to improve their ability to provide solutions
to existing Novell customers who need to integrate their NetWare and UNIX
resources.
"The educational aspect of the promotion will open new opportunities for
many of our resellers and expand the opportunities for those already
serving the UNIX market," said Peyser. "We've put together a
comprehensive seminar series to assist them in understanding, positioning
and selling NetWare NFS and LAN WorkPlace for DOS."
The seminar series for resellers and end users will be conducted by
Novell's regional sales offices and participating distributors and
national reseller organizations beginning in March. Additionally, gold
and platinum resellers will receive 40 percent discount coupons for
NetWare NFS and TCP/IP product education courses at participating Novell
Authorized Education Centers.
The promotion offers valuable prizes to distributors and resellers for
selling NetWare NFS and LAN WorkPlace for DOS between March 2 and August
31, 1992. It also offers prizes to end users who attend product
presentations. Interested resellers can contact their Novell distributor
or Novell regional sales office for details.
